Washington's Crossing State Park ~ PA Routes 32 & 532. (215)-493-4076

The site where on Christmas, 1776, George Washington and the Continental Army crossed the icy Delaware River. Includes the noted Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve, outdoor recreation and picnic areas.

For the latest park information and a calendar of events check here.

Morovian Pottery & Tile Works ~ 130 Swamp Rd. (Rt. 313) Doylestown 18901 (215) 345-6722

A working history museum producing decorative tiles and mosaics in a manner similar to that employed by Henry C. Mercer. Open 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., last tour begins at 4 p.m. There is a tile shop on site. Closed selected holidays. Fonthill Castle (Mercer's home) and the Mercer Museum are located nearby.

Covered Bridge Tour ~ Loux, Cabin Run, Frankenfield, Erwinna and Uhlerstown Covered Bridges.

This picturesque driving tour is of the five covered bridges closest to the Golden Pheasant Inn. As noted, there are many parks along the way ~ great for a picnic lunch. The tour should take an hour to hour and a half. For more covered bridge information check the BCTC.

Starting Point: Rt. 413 (Durham Rd.) and Stump Rd., Hinkletown

Go east onto Stump Rd. 0.9 mi. Turn left onto Wismer Rd. (farmhouse on corner) and go 1.0 mi. to Loux Bridge. Note: Carversville-Wismer Rd. becomes Wismer Rd. in this area. Continue through bridge up hill 0.5 mi. to the stop sign. Turn right onto Dark Hollow Rd. and go 0.9 mi. Turn right onto Covered Bridge Rd. and go 0.6 mi. to Cabin Run Bridge. Note: Ralph Stover State Park and Stover-Myers Mill Park are nearby. Go back on Covered Bridge Rd. to Dark Hollow Rd. Instead of turning left onto Dark Hollow Rd., stay straight ahead and follow the road around Stover-Myers Mill and go 2.7 mi. Turn left onto Cafferty Rd. (brownstone houses on corner) and go 0.6 mi. to Frankenfield Bridge. Go through bridge and uphill 0.2 mi. Turn right onto Hollow Horn Rd. and go 1.3 mi. until the stop sign. Turn right onto Headquarters Rd. (stay left at curve) and go 1.0 mi. until the stop sign. Turn left onto Geigel Hill Rd. & go 0.2 mi. to Erwinna Bridge. If you are fortunate enough to be here in late December or very early January, you may see the bridge in its Christmas finery. Note: Tinicum Park & Erwin Stover House are nearby on Rt. 32. Turn around, go back through Erwinna, & stay straight on Geigel Hill Rd. 0.5 mi. until the stop sign. Turn left onto Rt. 32 (River Rd.) & go 1.7 mi. Turn left onto Uhlerstown Rd. & go 0.3 mi. to Uhlerstown Bridge. Turn around & return to Rt. 32 (River Rd.), turn right & return to Golden Pheasant Inn via Rt. 32.
